THE VENUE GUIDE
This beautiful riverside estate has graced the banks of the Delaware River for over 270 years. The parlor of the mansion boasts a grand piano, fluted columns and matching fireplaces while the library, gallery and dining room provide havens for the food stations, beverages and cocktail tables.
With a beautiful outdoor ceremony location secluded from the surrounding roads and neighborhoods, you'll love walking down the aisle to your significant other. Looking out at all of your guests with the estate in the background will be a moment you'll never forget.
As you walk the grounds, you’ll capture photos that will grace your home for decades to come. You’ll dance the night away inside the mansion. Your guests will feel right at home inside. The best part is that you don't need to go overboard with decor because Pen Ryn Estate has the charm built in.
As you drive back down the tree lined lane, leaving the estate as newlyweds, you’ll look over at your incredible partner and thank God you’re married to such an amazing person. And you’ll always remember how beautiful your day truly was.
THE PERFECT VENUE
It's the day of your wedding and sunlight is reflecting off the river behind your officiant as he asks you to repeat after him. Your guests wait in anticipation. The estate watches as well. You repeat the words and your officiant says, "You may kiss..."

The perfect location to get into your wedding dress and do some final hair and makeup touches. There is a great getting ready room upstairs in the estate. The biggest tip is to keep this area clean and clutter free. It is air conditioned as well, so no need to worry for those of you getting married in the summer.
It's time for your first look, portraits and bridal party photos. We'll most likely utilize the front of the mansion near the fountain, the tree lined drive and the field near the river. We can even use some of the interior of the estate if we're finding the weather is cooperating.
The ceremony location is just down the stairs and on the other side of the fountain. Your partner is waiting just under the pergola just feet from the river that will be your backdrop. It's an incredibly gorgeous view and will look so beautiful in your photos and video.
Inside Pen Ryn Estate is where you'll find loads of charm. With beautiful chandeliers, multiple cocktail hour rooms, a balcony and a patio for your guests to mingle and dance the night away, it's hard to find a venue that tops this. And in the evening, you may even get some fireworks set off during your cake cutting. It'll certainly be a night you never forget!
Should we both get ready at Pen Ryn Estate?
We suggest getting hair and makeup done at a nearby hotel but getting into your dress in the bridal suite at Pen Ryn Estate. We're not sure how early you can arrive to the venue, but we've found that 3 hours is perfect if you're sharing in a first look. If you're not sharing in a first look, then 2 hours should be just fine. This gives you enough time to arrive, get in your dress, and take pictures without any stress.
Where do you recommend taking our family portraits?
Family photos most often happen right at the ceremony space. If you're getting married outside, we will most likely photograph your family pictures right under the pergola where you said your vows. Your guests will be enjoying cocktail hour on the patio and we want to keep you and your family away from your guests until those pictures are finished.
What time should we schedule our ceremony to begin?
This is going to depend on the time of year that you're getting married. If you're sharing in a first look, the best time to have your ceremony end is 1 hour prior to sunset. If you're not sharing in a first look then we would suggest your ceremony ending 2 hours prior to sunset. Most ceremonies at Pen Ryn Estate last approximately 30 minutes.
Do they allow for sparkler exits? Should we do one?
Pen Ryn Estate does allow for sparkler exits! We've photographed some great exits using bubbles, glow-sticks, and American flags. Get creative with your exit and think outside the box. Sparklers are definitely the way to go, in our opinion, especially if your reception ends after sunset.
How long should we plan to take bride & groom portraits?
We typically schedule 45 minutes for bride + groom portraits if you're sharing in a first look. If you're not sharing in a first look, you can expect to have approximately 10 minutes for bride and groom photos. For this reason, we highly encourage a first look because your photos are the first things to get cut short if something runs behind.
Should we have our ceremony indoors or outdoors?
Our preference is to always have your ceremony outside, unless it's pouring rain. If you know it's going to be cold and don't want to keep your guests outside for to terribly long, we'd suggest sharing more personal vows to one another in private, maybe during your first look, and then having a shortened 10 minute ceremony outdoors. We promise, it'll be worth it and you'll warm back up in minutes once you're inside again.
